Meet Joany

My tiny company was born during COVID-19, when my guesthouse in Hermanus could not operate at full capacity for nearly two years due to worldwide border closures. To subsidise my income, I went on a sports massage course and started my own small massage spa in my single garage. It is here where my candle-making journey caught fire. I would burn loads of candles while massaging and soon realised that good quality, affordable candles are very rare.

I decided to go on a few courses and started making my own candles. Before I knew it, my clients were placing orders and eventually I could no longer do both, and opted for the candle making! Now, three years later, I have gone from making candles at home to having my own dedicated workshop where I can focus entirely on making our gorgeous smelling soy wax candles, reed diffusers and room mists.

I have always been a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to quality, perhaps because it is as simple as this: if I don't believe in my product, I won't be able to sell it with conviction. I am not your typical salesperson that can sell ice to an Eskimo!

The quality of my products is my pride, from the ingredients to the packaging. And my hope is that you, my customer, will share this sentiment with me.
