Our dearest fynbos. You are such a tough little species.
If you've driven through the Western Cape. really driven, not just the N1 - you've seen it without knowing. Those low, scrubby bushes that cling to the mountainsides and somehow survive everything the Cape throws at them. That's fynbos.
It's one of only six floral kingdoms on earth, and the only one that exists entirely in a single country. Ours. The Cape Floral Kingdom stretches from the Cape Peninsula up through the Koue Bokkeveld and along the coast, and it contains over 9,000 plant species. More than 6,200 of those are endemic. They grow nowhere else on the planet. That's more species per square kilometre than the Amazon rainforest.
Proteas, buchu, ericas, restios - they're all fynbos. The king protea on our coat of arms? Fynbos. The rooibos in your cupboard? Grows in fynbos country. It's the backdrop to every Cape wine farm, every coastal hike, every sunset over Table Mountain.
Our Fynbos range was created to capture that - the fresh, wild, unmistakably South African smell of walking through the Cape bush. We blended bergamot, kiwi, cyclamen and violet over a warm amber base. It smells like the Cape feels.
You can find it as a candle, reed diffuser, room mist, and mini candle. No wonder it's South Africa's favourite flora - and one of our most loved scents.
