I was about ten when I looked at all the lovely things happening to Mom on Mother's day, and really thought it would be nice to have a special day like that, where everything is all about me, for a whole day. So I decided to ask Mom, while she was sitting in bed surrounded by flowers, gifts and a hearty breakfast on her lap: Mom, why is there not such a thing as "Children's day". Without blinking an eye, while swallowing her sip of tea, she answered "Well Pounsie, because every day is Children's day". It was not diffucult for my 10-year old mentality to understand what she meant.
To this day I remember her words, and often think to myself that it should really be the other way around - every day should be Mother's day because, as Charley Benetto puts it: "When you are looking at your mother, you are looking at the purest love you will ever know".
